JAMMU, Aug 4: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO), Kashmir today produced challan against Mangat Singh, the then Executive Engineer PHE Division Bijbehara, Habibullah Mir, the then Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE Sub Division Anantnag and contractors Mohammad Altaf Bhat R/o Uranhal and Mohammad Mukhtar Allaie R/o Zirpora Bijbehara in the Court of Additional Special Anti-corruption Judge Anantnag presided by Masrat Shaheen.
The Vigilance Organization had registered a case on the outcome of an enquiry conducted into the allegations that Mangat Singh in connivance with Habibullah Mir and Mohammad Shafi Teeli, the then Junior Engineer PHE Sub Division Anantnag had allotted work of fixing of pipe especially sluice valves and gate valves to contractors namely Mohammad Altaf Bhat and Mohammad Mukhtar Allaie to confer undue benefit upon each other.
During allotment of works, as a part of conspiracy, tendering process was not induced and no market survey for purchase of items to ascertain the reasonability of rates was conducted.
An official handout issued by the Vigilance Organization said during the verification the offences committed by the accused officers/officials and accused private persons were established and a case was registered against them at Vigilance Organization, Kashmir and investigations taken up.
The investigation of the case was finally concluded as proved against the accused persons.
The Challan of the case was produced before the court of Additional Special Judge Anti-corruption Anantnag for judicial determination.
All the accused were produced before the court along with the charge sheet where two accused namely Mohammad Altaf Bhat and Mohammad Mukhtar Allaie (both contractors) were sent to judicial custody at District Jail Anantnag by the Court.
