JAMMU, Aug 4: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today set deadline for the completion of various infrastructural facilities coming up at Jammu Government Medical College for providing quality education and adequate facilities for the comfortable stay of the medical students.
The Minister was speaking during a meeting convened to review the status of various ongoing projects on the Medical College campus.
He directed the officers of PWD (R&B) and Jammu & Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to expedite the pace of construction work to complete the same within set deadlines.
The meeting discussed the bottlenecks in the construction of Examination Hall, Central Library and Students’ Hostels.
The Minister directed the JKPCC to complete the construction of Examination Hall within two months and finish the pending work of Girls and Boys Hostels to hand over the buildings to the College by October end.
He asked the Govt. Medical College management to remain in constant touch with the executing agencies and work in synergy for smooth and timely completion of all infrastructural facilities.
Listing measures being taken by the Government to improve healthcare in the State, the Minister said providing quality medical education to the students and construction of additional infrastructure are major areas towards achieving the goal.
Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Principal/Dean GMC Dr. Sunanda Raina, Medical Superintendent, Medical College Hospital Dr. Romesh Gupta, Medical Superintendent,, SMGS Hospital Dr. Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent, Super Speciality Hospital Dr. Manoj Chalotra, officers of PWD (R&B), JKPCC and Planning Department were present in the meeting.
