UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: Villagers of Panchari, Lander and Bmagh held a protest demonstration against the Horticulture and Agriculture Departments for not organizing farmers awareness programmes on their schemes
Locals said that Centre and State Government were sending messages through big boards and social media, public meetings and other mass communication, that the Government administration was providing facilities under various schemes of Horticulture and Agriculture Department but the people in Udhampur, Chenani, Ramban, Sawalakote, Reasi, Katra, Panthal, Tikri, mostly farmers, were not being made aware of these schemes through Kisan Mela, Kisan Awareness camps etc.
They alleged that no employees of Horticulture and Agriculture Department was ever seen in the area during the last four years even as 80 percent population depends on agriculture and horticulture.
They alleged lamented that due to heavy and continuous rains, winds, floods, etc, their crops were damaged but no compensation was given to them from concerned departments as their employees failed in submitting the report on damaged crop.
