TIRUPATI, Aug 7: Vice President elect M Venkaiah Naidu stressed on improving facilities in hospitals and enhancing the doctors as well as government hospitals ratio compared to population in the country.
Hospitals should improve healthiness before giving health to the patients, Mr Naidu said while speaking after inaugurating Institute of Pregnant Women (IPW) in Ruia Hospital Premises and Girls Hostel building in SVIMS premises here today.
He said Government hospitals should improve hygienic conditions in its premises rather than giving quality treatment to the patients which give scope to attract the patients to get treatment in government hospitals.
Mr Venkaiah felt that there was need to increase the doctors strength in the country and said there should have been 10.5 lakh doctors in the country whereas only 6.5 lakh doctors are available now.
‘A healthy nation can become as wealthy nation and a wealthy nation cannot become a healthy nation. In India, doctors have been treating with high reverence in the society. Doctors should act as philosophers and treat every patient as Very Important Patient(VIP) without discrimination of status and wealth. ‘ he averred.
He underlined to take steps to increase individual health insurances in Government sector.
Mr Naidu urged the people for having a sound health with discipline and determination which automatically gives wealth and good position in life and quoted himself as an example for attaining the highest post in the country though coming from ordinary farmers’ family.
He wanted that every government hospital should work like SVIMS hospital and stressed on increasing doctors ratio equal to the patients ratio.
Mr Venkaiah said the greatness of our country is strong relations in the family system and added Raksha Bandhan resemblence great relationship between brother and sister marking the support to each other in all the times.
He suggested to the medical students to work hard with sincerity which provides success in their lives without leaving their believed principles.
Highlighting the development schemes initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi including construction of individual toilets under Swacch Bharat, employment opportunities by welcoming foreign companies to the country, he said Mr Modi enhanced the maternity leave to 26 weeks from 12 weeks in view of their problems during pregnancy.
Later, Mr Naidu handed over the tabs provided by the Government to the medical students and tied Rakhi to local MLA Suguna and women staff of medical college who were on the dias. He was also tied Rakhi by girl students and by MLA Suguna.
The medical college staff felicitated Mr Naidu on being elected as Vice President.
