KISHTWAR/ UDHAMPUR, Aug 8: A total back out has been reported from districts Kishtwar and Doda, including parts of Bhaderwah, Bhalessa-Gandoh and Atholi-Paddar, as a 132-KV electric transmission tower collapsed near Bali Nallah in district Udhampur today
Reports said that at around 2 pm today, due to rain and land slides an electric tower near the bank of river Tawi in Bali Nallah area, was collapsed. With this, the power supply to entire Chenab region including Doda, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar was snapped. Due to power failure entire Paddar-Atholi-Machail Mata area where annual yatra is going on has come under total back out. The hundreds of pilgrims besides people of the area are facing hardships.
DC Kishtwar, GN Balwan when contacted said that some snag has been developed in 132 KV Line from Udhamput to Doda and Kishtwar. He said a tower of this transmission line has broken near Bali Nallah in Udhampur. The work on the liner has been started on war footing. It is hoped that the power will be restored by tomorrow afternoon. The Powergrid / NHPC authorities are trying to make some alternative arrangements to restore power supply in this entire region, the DC said.
MoS, Transport, Revenue and PWD, Sunil Sharma said that power supply this entire Chenab belt has been snapped and he has asked to the concerned authorities to restore power within shortest possible time. They are making some alternate arrangements. It is likely to be restore by Wednesday afternoon, he added.
