Court awards 21 yrs RI to teacher in tampering of DoB

POONCH, Oct 31: Principal Sessions Judge Poonch, Kishore Kumar has awarded 21 years rigorous imprisonment to a teacher namely Mustan Shah, son of Maqbool Shah of Narh, tehsil Mendhar, who was Incharge of admission record of High School Behrutti and 15 years rigorous imprisonment to Mohd Adrees, son of Said Mohd of Panjani, who produced fake age certificate for selection in the Police Department.
According to the police case, on September 16, 1998 Mendhar Police received a letter alleging that Mohd Adrees has managed selection in the Police Department on the basis of fake certificate. On this, a case was registered and investigation was handed over to IO Mohd Hafiz.
During the course of investigation, record from Government High School Behrutti was called for verification. Mustan Shah, who was the incharge of admission record of High School Behrutti produced the record before the police.
After verification, the date of birth of the accused Adrees was found to be May 2, 1981 and the same was tampered as May 2, 1980 so that the accused could get the employment in the Police Department. The accused was less than 18 years at the time of employment in Government job. Mustan Shah with criminal intention tampered the age of accused Mohd Adrees in the admission and withdrawal register so that the school leaving certificate be issued in his favour. After completion of investigation, challan was presented in the court of law.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Nazir Hussain for the State whereas Advocate Anuj Kapoor for the accused persons, Principal Sessions Judge awarded 7 years rigorous imprisonment to Mustan Shah under Section 466 RPC, seven years for the commission of offence under Section 468 RPC and 7 years in the offence under Section 471 RPC, along with fine of Rs 10000.
Mohd Adrees was awarded rigorous imprisonment for 5 years in offence under Section 420, 5 years in offence under Section 468 RPC and 5 years in the offence under Section 471 RPC along with fine of Rs 10000. In case of default in making the payment he will further under go simple imprisonment for three months.
