13 in fray for Jammu Chamber’s election today

JAMMU, Apr 27: A total thirteen members are in the fray for the election to the executive body of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu being held at Chamber Bhavan, Rail Head Complex here tomorrow.
A spokesman of the CCI said that the election will take place immediately after the Annual General Meeting of this premier body of traders is over after 10 am on Saturday. For the post of president, two members including sitting president Y V Sharma are contesting. The second candidate is Rakesh Gupta from the Pharmaceutical background.
For the post of senior vice president Ram Saroop Gupta (sitting executive body member) and Sham Lal Langar are contesting whereas, for the junior vice president’s post, again two candidates Anil Gupta (Bittu) and Sanjay Mahajan are in the fray.
Arun Gupta, a former president of Kanak Mandi Traders Association and Manish Gupta, sitting executive body member of CCI Jammu are in the fray. The contest between these two is said to be a tough one. For the post of secretary, two candidates facing each other are- Rahul Mahajan and Deepak Agrarwal. Deepak is also a sitting members of the executive body of the CCI.
Three members are in the fray for the post of treasurer. They are Bharat Bhushan Gupta ( Babbi), Rajesh Gupta (Bittu) and Rakesh Jandial.
The spokesman further said that a total 1964 members from the trade and industry are the voters of this premier body (CCI). Over 95 to 99 % voting is expected in tomorrow’s polls. The polling will start at around 10 am and will be over by 4 pm. The result will also be declared by the Election Commissioner by late Saturday evening.
Anil Kapahi is the Election Commissioner while three other members of the Commission are- Shiv Partap Gupta, Narinder Singh Chehal and Rajan Gupta.
