NEW DELHI: The Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal-United (JD-U) is all set to join the BJP-led NDA formally on August 19 at the party’s national executive meeting at Patna.
Almost short of announcing JD(U)’s entry in the ruling alliance at the Centre, senior party leader KC Tyagi said here today that BJP Chief Amit Shah met Mr Nitish Kumar here yesterday and invited him to join the NDA, and a formal decision will be taken in Patna on August 19.
Mr Tyagi also claimed that there was no split in the JD(U) as all the MLAs and all the president of the district units of the party in Bihar, beyond which the party did not have recognition, were with Mr Nitish Kumar.
He sought to underline that as per the party constitution, Mr Kumar as its president was authorized to take any decision, which would of course be later endorsed by the party national executive. (AGENCIES)
