JAMMU, Aug 13: J&K State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) received National Public Transport Excellence Award in an international convention of various State Transport Undertakings held at New Delhi.
Managing Director of the J&K SRTC, Mir Afroz received the award on behalf of State Government from Union Additional Secretary, Transport, Ms Morth. The State Road Transport Corp was awarded for operating under severe geographical conditions in Kashmir and Ladakh.
The annual convention was organised by Association of State Road Transport Undertakings. Representatives from abroad also attended this convention where issues related to public transport system and challenges ahead were discussed. An exhibition on public transport innovation was also part of this international convention where experts from the field presented their views and ideas.
The MD said that the credit of this achievement goes to the employees and workers of the J&K SRTC as they are operating under extreme weather conditions and tough terrain in the areas like Doda,Kishtwar and parts of Ladakh and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, J&K SRTC Workers Union chairman, Wajahat Hussain has congratulated the employees of the Corporation for this achievement and said that it is the outcome of the hard work and efforts put in by the workers of the SRTC.
