SRINAGAR, Aug 16: Police Station Vigilance Kashmir produced challan against Gulshan Ahmed Yatoo, son of Abdul Gani Yatoo, R/o Nagam, Chadoora, Budgam, then Senior Assistant in the office of Additional Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Solina, Srinagar in the court of Speical Anti-Corruption Judge presided over by Yashpal Bourney.
The instant case was registered in P/S VOK on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Rasool Sheikh R/o Panzan Chadoora Budgam alleging therein that he had deposited the passenger taxes for their commercial vehicles in the J&K Bank branch Commercial Taxes, Solina Srinagar and concerned Clerk Gulshan Ahmad was demanding rupees four hundred for each vehicle for providing issuance of Passenger Tax Book. Since the complainant did not want to pay the bribe being against it and when despite repeated requests the said senior Assistant Clerk remained adamant on his demand of bribe the complainant arranged Rs. 1200 as bribe. However, before paying the said amount to the accused, the complainant who was against the bribe brought Rs.1200/- along with the written complaint before Vigilance Organization Kashmir for taking legal action against the accused public servant under law.
On receipt of the complaint, Case FIR No. 36/2015 U/S 5(2) P.C. Act Svt. 2006 r/w Section 161 RPC now Section 4-A of PC (Amendment) Act, 2014 was registered and investigation taken up. The trap team constituted by VOK laid a successful trap in which Gulshan Ahmad Yatoo S/o Abdul Gani Yatoo R/o Nagam Chadoora Budgam, the then Senior Assistant in the Office of Additional Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Solina Srinagar was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 1,200/- as bribe from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused Gulshan Ahmad Yatoo in presence of independent witness.
