More reports of I-Day celebrations

JAMMU, Aug 17:  There are more reports of celebrations across Jammu division in connection with the 71st year of India’s Independence from British rule.
The Independence Day was also celebrated in Lakshadweep where the National Flag was hoisted by Farooq Khan, Administrator. After march past by the contingents of IRBN, Lakshadweep Police, Commando Force, NCC, Scout, NSS and School contingents,  hundreds of school children enthusiastically singing and dancing  to the tunes of  patriotic songs made the celebrations  colourful.   Large number of general public witnessed the celebrations.
On the day, a 100 bed Working Women’s Hostel was inaugurated and dedicated to the people of Lakshadweep while a cycle rally was also organized in the evening by local Madrassa students,   to express their solidarity with the nation.
PowerGrid Northern Region Transmission System -II celebrated    Independence Day with patriotism and enthusiasm. Flag hoisting, cultural and sports programmes were organized at all its establishments across the Region. At its Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu,   H K Mallick Executive Director, NRTS -II, unfurled the national flag in presence of   Amarjit, General Manager (Consultancy), senior officials, employees, their families and children.
71st Independence Day was celebrated by NHPC at its Regional Office, Jammu. A large number of employees and CISF personnel participated. On this occasion, S Kalgaonkar, Executive Director, hoisted the tricolor. He advised the employees to work hard with dedication for progress and prosperity of the nation.   All office buildings and Guest Houses were lit up on the occasion. The function concluded with distribution of sweets among the employees and children.
University of Jammu installed a rare photograph, featuring all the members of the Constituent Assembly of India, 24 January, 1950, with the title ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhata’. The photograph was unveiled by the Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, and was later installed at Dhanvantri Library in the campus.
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society celebrated   Independence Day by organizing a function wherein Director School Education S Ravinder Singh was the chief guest and he unfurled the National Flag. On the occasion, students of National School and Trikuta Nagar School presented cultural programme and recited patriotic songs.
Vishwa Bharati College of Education celebrated independence Day with enthusiasm in College campus.  Prof A N Sadhu the chief guest, Dr O P Razdan and Dr S K Koul, Secretary Vishwa Bharti Higher Secondary School, hoisted the tricolour followed by lighting of traditional lamp. Solo songs, solo and groups dances, speeches, poems, poems by and meloldious songs were presented on the occasion. Prof Sunita Kampassi, the Principal highlighting importance of the day.
Sainik School Nagrota celebrated the Independence Day in the school campus where an elegant ceremonial parade was held. The cadets of both Senior and Junior Division belonging to Army and Naval wings of NCC marched crisply to the rhythmic beats of the School Band. Capt (Indian Navy) A Muthuraman, Principal, presided over the function and unfurled the tricolor.   The School Band scored a hat-trick by winning the Best Band Contingent Award for the third consecutive time for their scintillating performance during the ceremonial parade at Mini Stadium Jammu.
Independence day was celebrated in APS Akhnoor with great zeal and gaiety. The programme began with the flag hosting ceremony initiated by chief guest Col SC Sharma along with Col UK Shrivastava, Maj V Prashant and Head of Institution  KCS Mehta. The event began with the splendid performance shown by NCC cadets and then followed by various other colourful cultural programmes. The sweets were distributed amongst the participants & students.
Govt Hr Secondary School, Jullaka Mohalla, Jammu, celebrated   Independence Day wherein students, teachers and locals participated. . Razia Chaudhary, Principal of the Institute, unfurled the National Flag.  The program concluded with distribution of sweets.
Government Girls High School Raipur Satwari celebrated Independence Day in presence of local residents and prominent citizens from surrounding localities. Headmaster of the school. Swarna Devi unfurled national flag and took salute of the march past presented by the students of the school on the occasion. Various cultural items were also presented by the students on the occasion
71st Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour by the children and staff of Vidyapeeth Higher Secondary School, Chogan Slathia (Jammu). Principal of the school, Kiran Mengi, unfurled the tricolour in the presence of guest of honour, Kewal Krishan Wadhera (social activist) as well as staff and students of the school. Students presented various cultural activities and also delivered speeches.
Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School, Kandoli Nagotra celebrated Independence Day by organizing an impressive function wherein Tehsildar Nagtora Rajesh Thakur hoisted the National Flag. Besides Guard of Honour by Police personnel, cultural items were presented by the students of different schools. Santosh Kumari, Principal of the HSS presented vote of thanks.
Independence Day was celebrated by Government Higher Secondary School, Salehar, R S Pura. On the occasion, National Flag was unfurled by the school Principal Kura Ram while students presented colourful cultural programme.
In the Independence Day celebration function at Government Higher Secondary School Sohal (Akhnoor), the school Principal S N P Singh, hoisted the National Flag. Students presented an impressive programme while sweets were distributed among all the participants.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jakh (Samba) celebrated 71st Independence Day with great fervour and gaiety. The tri-colour was hoisted by the Principal Deepak Gupta, in presence of prominent citizens of Jakh and its adjoining area, staff and students. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students.
On the occasion of Independence Day, flag hoisting ceremony was organized jointly by J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha and Guru Nabha Dass Ji Maharaj Trust. The flag was hoisted by M D Dardi, Chairman of the Trust, in the presence of N D Rajwal, B D Naryal, Khilari Lal Kuran, Bodh Raj Rao, Som Raj Taroch, Arun Rajwal, Vijay Kumar Magotra, Koushal Kumar and others.
Welfare Committee Rehari-Dogra Hall and BJP Ward number 8, celebrated Independence Day by organizing a joint function. Senior BJP leader N D Rajwal was chief guest on the occasion and he unfurled the National Flag in the presence of B D Naryal and others.
At Sarthal in Kishtwar, Independence Day was celebrated at HSS Sarthal where MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori delivered his speech while The school Principle hoisted the tricolor and took salute of the march past.  The school children, Government employees and prominent citizens participated in the function.  Saroori announced Rs 10 lakhs for various development works for HSS Sarthal.   The artists and students of various schools presented a scintillating cultural bonanza in Gojri, Dogri, Kashmiri and other languages.
The Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour by people of Bishnah area by unfurling national flag. The main function was held in the center of the town (Tara Chowk) and the national flag was unfurled by Senior Advocate and Congress leader M K Bhardwaj. The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by  Ashok Kumar Dubey, secretary PCC,  Ratan Lal,  Sub  Vijay Kumar, Capt. Mir Chand, Ajay Kumar, Kirpal Singh, Anil Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Avinash Sharma,   Rajesh Sharma, Kasturi Lal Lambardar, Ghanshyam and others.
Bhartiya Janta Party Udhampur District organized a big function to celebrate the   Independence Day. The function was held at Talab Saillan in which MP Jugal Kishore Sharma unfurled the tricolour in presence of BJP State general secretary Pawan Khajuria, District president Rakesh Gupta and their team. On the occasion, sweets were also distributed among the participants.
Supporters of MLA Udhampur, Pawan Gupta organized Independence Day function at Lal Chowk Udhampur. On the occasion, Pawan Gupta hoisted Tricolor and stressed said that the need of hour is to free nation from corrupt leaders. Sweets were also distributed among the participants on the occasion.
Govind Nagar Welfare Society Udhampur celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor at Govind Nagar, M.H. Chowk, Udhampur under the leadership of its president Subash Sharma. National flag was hoisted by the senior citizen S Sanmukh Singh.
Nai Basti Kanahchack Border Camp, tehsil, Marh, celebrated 71st Independence Day with great enthusiasm. On the occasion, flag was hoisted by T C Sharma, ex-Panch of Kanachack. Chief guest was 106 years old Sakho Devi from the village Chaprial. She delivered a speech and stressed that work is worship and hardwork is the key to success.
