JAMMU, Nov 1: Several Government employees’ bodies have decided to chalk-out strategy and review the present trade union scenario in the State with regard to the employees’ demands in a meeting being held here on November 29.
In a meeting of the representatives from EJAC-R, EJAC-P and SRTC held here today under the leadership of Ram Kumar Sharma, Pardeep Kumar, Shakeel Ahmed Kuchey, Rafiq Ahmed Khaniyari, Parshotam Sharma and others, it was unanimously decided to organize `Jammu Chalo’ convention at Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, opposite GGM Science College, Canal Road on November 29, 2012.
These leaders disclosed that the topic of the convention will be ‘breach of agreements by State Government, broader unity, united action and the double standard approach adopted by some employees’ representatives’. They pointed out that unfortunately, the Government has failed to implement the agreements reached with the employees’ leaders.
Again the Government has done nothing to formulate the policy for regularization of casual, seasonal and daily rated workers in different departments over the decades on minimum wages. Two committees were framed by Government for enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, removal of pay anomalies of different/ clerical cadre but nothing was done in this regard. Even the issues of the PSU workers also remained unresolved.
They said the EJAC representatives from Leh and Kargil have also given their consent to join November 29 meet in Jammu. They further said that next course of action/ strategy will also be decided in the said meeting being held in Jammu. They asked the employees to remain vigilant against the activities of some self styled leaders causing damage to the trade union movement and come on one platform to launch a united struggle in the larger interest of the employees.
