Court awards 10 yrs RI in rape case

POONCH, Nov 1: Principal Sessions Judge Poonch, Kishore Kumar today awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 50,000 to Altaf Hussain, son of Allah Ditta, a resident of Hari, Surankote, who was facing trial in rape with 13 years old minor girl.
After hearing Public Prosecutor Nazir Hussain for the State whereas Advocates Taj Hussain Shah and Iftiqkhar Ahmed Bazmi, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “women play many roles during various stages of their life as a daughter, wife, mother and sister. In spite of her contribution in the life of every human being she still belongs to a class that is in disadvantageous position on account of various social, political and economic barriers and impediments”.
With these observations, Court found accused guilty of offence under Section 376 RPC and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of ten years and to a fine of Rs 50000 under Section 376 RPC. In case of default in payment of fine, accused will further undergo imprisonment for a period of one year under Section 376 RPC. In case the convict Altaf Hussain deposits the fine, the same will be paid to the prosecutrix.
