KPC to launch crusade for social reforms

NEW DELHI, Nov 1: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) in its meeting at Dwarika today reiterated its resolve to launch a crusade for social reforms in the community.
The meeting, which was chaired by KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri made an appeal to community members to extend their full support to its crusade for social reforms in the community.
The meeting decided that KPC among other things will hold meetings with community youth both male and female asking them to avoid inter community marriages to preserve the age old traditions and culture of the community otherwise it will get extinct within two decades.
It said the meeting will also stress on avoiding one or two-child norm as the community population is dwindling day by day. Through its campaign the youth will be asked to maintain their age-old culture by respecting elders, preserving and promoting the Kashmiri language, which has its deep, roots in Sanskrit and make it a habit to converse with children in Kashmiri language.
Moreover, the community will also be asked to maintain unity in its rank and file so that a united fight is launched for restoration of the rights.
