PHE employees threaten suspension of water supply

UDHAMPUR, Nov 2: District president Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and vice president of PHE Employees Association, Jammu province Som Nath has stressed for suspension of water supply for seven days, in case Government failed to address pending demands of the employees.
Speaking in the meeting of district executive body of the Water Works PHE Employees Association (Udhampur), the trade union leader stressed the provincial body of the Association for going ahead with ‘Pani Bandh’ call for seven days as the Government was not serious in addressing genuine and long pending demands of the employees. He pointed out that there was shortage of nearly 1373 workers in Udhampur division alone to run the new schemes and overcome problems in existing schemes and stations.
Som Nath further claimed that Association was projecting demands like conduct of DPC, clearance of pending wages, regularization of daily wagers, provision of benefit of SRO 64, enhancement of wages of daily rated/ consolidated, CP workers and modification in the transfer policy for class-IV employees. He urged the higher authorities to look into the matter and address the issues otherwise workers will be completed to go for suspension of water supplies.
