JAMMU, Aug 23: KAS aspirants today demanded that the State Government should enhance upper age limit for appearing in the State Combined Services Examination.
In a press statement here the maintained that the age eligibility has been prescribed as 37 for in-service and 35 for others. Combined Competitive Examinations are held after the gap of three-four years. As of now, no CCE has been taken place in time due to the one reason or the other. A conduct of single examination is generally completed not less than three-four years, thereby made us to cross the age of 37 years.
It is to mention here that thousands of such aspirants have crossed the age bar for being eligible for the exam. It is surprising that while Union Government has kept the upper age limit for JK candidates 37 years, State Government instead of increasing it to 40 years, reduced the age limit to 35 years.
PSC could not conduct KAS exams in 2014 owing to the floods and after that the institution was defunct for a longer period of time as the post of PSC Chairman remained vacant. Same is the case with CCE Preliminary 2016 that led thousands of youth to cross 35 years and 37 years respectively due to the mass error in the examination questions that led to the revised declaration of result and stay from the High Court.
The participants unanimously resolved to meet again over the issue shortly to decide further course of action to get their demand conceded. Another Aspirant Sadaket Ali said “Government should take a considerate view in the issue and relax the upper age limit upto 40 years.”
The meeting was attended by Ashrif Shaheen, Attaullah, Baber Rather, Lekh Raj, Chander, Kuldeep Singh, Ch Ghulam Nabi, Naseer Ahmed, Waheeda, Vikas and others.
