UDHAMPUR, Aug 25: Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police today rescued 19 animals and arrested one smuggler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Chenani.
Based on reliable information, a Police party, led by SHO Chenani, Inspector Paramjit Singh, laid a surprise naka at Motor Shed NHW Chenani and intercepted a Truck, bearing Registration No. JK02AL-2195. During search of said vehicle, 19 bovine animals were rescued.
The accused driver, namely Ashok Kumar son of Churu Ram of Bagu Nala Batote District Ramban, was arrested on the spot and vehicle was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 115/2017 U/S 188/RPC 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani.
