JAMMU, Aug 27: J&K Teacher’s Welfare Association (JKTWA) has urged the Union HRD Minister, Prakash Javedkar to modify the eligibility conditions for undergoing DEEd course.
The issue was discussed in length in a meeting of JKTWA held here today under the chairmanship of its president, Jasmeet Singh Madaan.
Addressing the meeting, Madaan said that the association welcomes the scheme for training of Government/private teachers through distance mode in one go through NIOS for upgradation of their teaching skills and raising the standard of education but questions the eligibility conditions issued by MHRD for the training, which he said, needs amendment.
He said that the main cause of concern for the teaching fraternity is that the teacher’s possessing Senior Secondary qualification and Graduate are being equated same. He said that MHRD should go in for DEEd training to those who possessed Senior Secondary qualification and should opt B.Ed for those who are graduate so that after completing B.Ed they can go for promotion in Master’s grade.
“The second major cause of concern is that if a Teacher is already undergoing some Master’s degree/certificate programme to enhance his/her qualification through IGNOU or any Government recognized university after taking proper permission by the department, then how can he/she will pursue two courses simultaneously”, Madaan said, urging that MHRD should consider these problems sympathetically and issue an amendment order for exempting those who are undergoing some courses after due permission by the concerned department.
