Massive search operation launched in south Kashmir

 

SRINAGAR:  Security forces launched a major search operation in over half a dozen villages in Shopian district in south Kashmir, where eight security force personnel were martyred in a fidayeen attack on District Police Lines (DPL) in Pulwama.

   Three foreign militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad were also killed in the 18-hour-long encounter in the DPL.

     Security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint search operation in over half a dozen villages in Shopian district since early this morning.

    All the exit points in these villages, including Zaipora, Wangam, Matribugh and Dangam were sealed by the security forces since early this morning. People were asked to remain indoor, they said.

   However, so far no contact was established with the militants, they said adding the operation was going on when the reports last came in. (AGENCIES)
