JAMMU, Aug 29: Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jammu West, Pranav Mahajan along with SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Kumar today called upon the Chemists to sell medicines only on medical prescriptions as this would discourage the drug addicts trying to purchase intoxicants.
Pranav stated this in a meeting with Chemist shop and Laboratory owners at his office this morning in which he sought their help to overcome the menace of drug-addiction among the youth.
The SDPO also advised the Chemist shop owners to sell syringes and needles only to genuine buyers so that they were not misused by the drug-addicts.
He also called upon the Chemists to ensure while selling medicines to the customers that they are not fake or expire and also ensure that no overcharging is done by anyone.
Mahajan called upon the Chemist shopkeepers not to send their representatives or agents inside the Government Medical College for the purpose of selling medicines as this sets wrong precedent. He also called upon the Chemists to install Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTVs) at their shops and establishments to keep proper surveillance on drug-addicts and other anti-social elements.
The participants assured the SDPO West that they would abide by the instruction given during the meeting and render all possible help to police in prevention of crimes related to drugs.
