JU organizes lecture on ‘Role of Sahir Ludhanavi for development of Urdu’

JAMMU, Aug 29: An extension lecture on the topic “Role of Sahir Ludhanavi poetry for the development of Urdu language and literature”. was organized by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, here today.
While delivering the lecture, Prof. Anwar Zaheer Ansari of Baroda University (Gujrat),  explained some of the important poems of Sahir Ludhanavi where he has presented literary aspects.
“Sahir  Ludhanavi was not a only a towering poet of progressive writers movement but  also a top poet of Indian Film industry who gave remarkable songs to film industry and popularize Urdu language in the nook and corner of the India. He was a poet par excellence who was a great humanist. His poetry written for films and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and other singers are still popular among the masses of sub-continent”, said  Prof Anwar Zaheer Ansari.
In his presidential address, Prof Sukchhain Singh described the thought provoking lecture of Prof Anwar Zaheer Ansari informative.
Earlier in his welcome address, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik introduced Prof Anwar Zaheer Ansari to the audience and described him a well known critic of Urdu language.
Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Associate Professor in Urdu Department,   conducted proceeding of the program and vote of thanks was presented by Dr Chaman Lal.
