Drug peddler from Punjab apprehended with 15 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Aug 30: Gandhi Nagar police under “Operation Sanjeevani” apprehended a drug peddler hailing from Punjab along with 15 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar police station laid a naka near Ashok Nagar, Satwari and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking, who was trying to hide himself on seeing police cops.
During checking, police recovered 15 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Saudagar Ali, son of Mohammad Habib, a resident of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 145/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar DySP (P) Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
