KATHUA, Aug 31: Mohammad Akram Chowdhary, Principal Sessions Judge, Kathua sentenced one accused person namely Rattan Chand son of Thakur Dass alias Thakru resident of Sarar Tehsil Chenani district Udhampur for one year simple imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs. 5,000/- for the commission of offence under section 497 RPC. The Court further convicted him for one year simple imprisonment and fine of Rs. 5,000/- for the commission of offence punishable under section 498 RPC. In default of payment of fine, the convict will undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of six months. The case was contested by Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Public Prosecutor.
As per the case history on January 8,2013, a Case FIR No. 05/2013 U/S 366 RPC was registered at P/S Hiranagar in terms of Section 156(3) CrPC on the report of one Rinku son of Sat Paul resident of Village Satura tehsil Hiranagar that his wife who went missing from his residence on 17.12.2012 has been kidnapped by one Rattan Chand son of Thakur Dass alias Thakru resident of Sarar Tehsil Chenani District Udhampur. During the course of investigation, the victim was recovered from Punjab. After the conclusion of investigation, offence U/S 366/376/368 RPC was proved against said accused and challan of the case was produced in the court of law on March 15, 2013.
While deciding the case on August 26 this year the Principle Session Judge Kathua, found Rattan Chand of guilty for commission of offence Under Section 497 RPC.
