SRINAGAR, Sept 1: Gove-rnor N. N. Vohra has extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and prayed for their well-being and prosperity.
In his message of felicitations, the Governor has hoped that this festival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, and revive the glorious pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries past.
The Governor prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has also felicitated people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
In her message, the Chief Minister prayed the blessed festival further inculcates the values of selfless service, piety and care about others among us. She said the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) which embodies these values needs to be followed more in present times which are engulfed by acrimony, ill will and confrontation all across the globe.
Mehbooba Mufti said the occasions like Eid should invite us to think about happiness and welfare of those who cannot afford or who became victims of fate due to one reason or the other. “On this day, let’s give handholding to orphans, widows, destitute and any other who needs it. There lies the real spirit of celebrating Eid-ul-Azha”, she said.
Terming the Hajj pilgrimage, which coincides with this festival, as the best example of human camaraderie, Mehbooba Mufti said the annual pilgrimage gives us a message that no barriers of caste, creed, colour or region exist before God except piety and good deeds.
The Chief Minister hoped the day brings an everlasting joy, peace and happiness to the people of the State.
