JAMMU, Sept 1: Scholarship camp of eight days was launched today by Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust.
Besides, scholarship distribution, students of class 1 to 10 participated in the mandatory assessment tests. Selection tests for new students from classes 1st to 3rd were also be conducted for next year.
Speaking on the occasion the Managing Trustee said that the scholarships will be distributed to 560 students over the next 8 days 60 – 65 students will be invited along with their parents to collect the scholarship every day.
Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust has been awarding scholarships since 1997. It started by supporting 12 children and this year the Trust has reached out to 560 children. The Trust aims to cover as many rural children as possible around Jammu. Eighty percent of the students are girls & belong to rural areas such as Hira Nagar, Chak, Rattian, Doomi, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Kangrail, Arnia Gurah Slathia, Ghou Manhasan, Saruinsar, etc.
Families of girl children from classes 1st to 3rd are welcome to apply to the Trust for scholarship. The Trust only accepts students of financially weak sections studying in Government schools.
