KATHUA, Sept 1: Excise Department today seized 9400 kilograms of polythene at toll post Nagri.
As per official spokesman, under the guidance of Javed Ahmed Khan, Excise Commissioner, J&K, the sleuths of Excise Department at toll post, Nagri, foiled a major attempt of smuggling polythene into the State by seizing 9400 kgs of banned polythene bags from a truck.
The driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot. The vehicle alongwith seized polythene has been handed over to Pollution Control Board, Kathua for taking further action under rules.
The whole operation was supervised by the Deputy Excise Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan and carried out by Excise and Taxation Officers Dr Varinder Gupta, Virinder Singh Pawar, Suraj Chander Singh, Sourab Sharma, Inspector Adarsh Sharma, Sub-Inspectors Kanwaljit Singh Shan, Tousif Sheikh, Surinder Singh Bagal and Excise Guards Mohammad Rafi and Tilak Raj.
Excise Commissioner Javed Ahmed Khan asked the sleuths to work even more hard and with dedication to thwart the nefarious designs of smugglers in future also.
