JAMMU, Sept 3: On 202nd day of their ongoing hunger strike, the agitating Contractual Lecturers today held a protest demonstration in front of the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh.
The protesting Contractual Lecturers raised slogans against the State Government and Deputy Chief Minister for their callous attitude towards their demand of regularization.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by leaders of All J&K 10+2 Contractual Lecturers Association, who announced to gherao all the ministers in State Government.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a legislation passed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees.
As the Deputy CM was not present at his residence during the protest demonstration, the agitating Contractual Lecturers announced to gherao the minister tomorrow and then moved towards the venue of chain hunger strike at Exhibition Ground.
Earlier, dodging the Police, the Contractual Lecturers managed to assemble in front of the Deputy CM’s official residence and tried to enter the premises for meeting the minister. However, on being stopped by policemen at the gate, they started holding a protest demonstration.
