JAMMU, Sept 5:  The 19th Death Anniversary of  Shaheed Ramesh Lal was observed as “Shadeedi-Divas” by the residents of  village Kaloen in RS Pura   at the Memorial site on RS Pura – Suchetgarh Road today.
Shaheed Ramesh Lal laid down his life while fighting the militants in Poonch sector on  September 5, 1999, while he was serving in 8th Dogra Regiment.
Former minister and senior Congress leader R S Chib while paying rich tributes to the martyr Ramesh Lal, appreciated the role of Army, Para-military Forces, J&K Police and other security agencies, for their unprecedented strong action against the militant outfits operating in Kashmir. Chib expressed his heartfelt condolences, for all those security personnel who were martyred, during operations against the militants/terrorists in Valley.
Chib also criticized the role of separatists, who are fully responsible in misleading the innocent youth of Kashmir, and using them against the security forces, as stone – pelters. Chib supported the action taken by the NIA, against the separatists, who are receiving Hawala funds from Pakistan, for undertaking anti-national activities in the State. He expressed confidence that the days of military in Kashmir are numbered.
Former minister while paying rich tributes to the martyr Ramesh Lal said that the people of J&K in general and tehsil RS Pura in particular are proud of the sacrifice made by Shaheed Ramesh Lal. He said, his parents belonged to Deva Watala  (now in PoK) an area, which is known for its chivalry and heroic deeds. Chib also mentioned that a large number of our officers and jawans, in Army, Para military  Forces and Police, belonging to tehsil Ranbir Singh Pura, have sacrificed their lives during Kargil operation and also while fighting the militancy.
The tributes were also paid by Brig  Harcharan Singh, Director Rajya Sainik  Board, Col  Kotwal, Ch  Surinder Singh SDPO RS Pura Asst Commandant Ravinder Singh Chib (Retd), Ch Mohinder Singh  and  Tehsildar RS Pura, besides locals of the area.
