5 drug peddlers arrested with 18.5 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Sept 6: Chatha and Pacca Danga police under “Operation Sanjeevani” arrested five drug peddlers along with 18.5 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Chatha police post laid a naka at Hakkal Morh and intercepted three pedestrian, who were trying to hide himself on seeing police cops.
During checking, police recovered 15 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jagir Singh, son of Deewan Chand, Raghubir Singh, son of Karam Chand and Ajay Kumar, son of Harmesh Lal, all residents of Punjab.
During preliminary inquiry, it came to fore that the accused had brought the consignment from Punjab for selling among the youth in Jammu and surrounding areas. With their arrest, police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 171/17 under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Satwari and further investigation of the case is going on.
Police team led by Incharge Chatha police post SI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the guidance of SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh, SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
Meanwhile, Pacca Danga police during checking at Manda arrested two pedestrians along with 3.5 kilograms of poppy straw.
A case under FIR Number 118/17 under relevant Sections has been registered at Pacca Danga police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Pacca Danga SI Dheeraj Nagpal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO City Varun Jandial and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
