Govt Ayurvedic College to be commissioned shortly: Bali

SRINAGAR, Sept 6: A delegation of AYUSH doctors under the banner of AYUSH Welfare Forum comprising, Dr. Moha-mmad Jamal (Vice President), Dr. Shabir Ahmad Gaffari, Dr. Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Dr. Saif-ul-abrar and Dr. Wahid-ul-Hassan called on the Minsiter for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat and highlighted the issues relating to the functioning of the Department of AYUSH in Jammu and Kashmir.
The delgation submitted a memorandum of demands, which mostly related to the welfare of AYUSH doctors, upgradation of infrastructural facilities and further expansion of the ISM Department in view of the increased work load of patients across the ISM institutions in the State.
While interacting with the AYUSH doctors, the Minister said that the process of commissioning the Government Ayurvedic College at Jammu is almost at the final stage as the Union Ministry of AYUSH has agreed in principle to start the first batch of BAMS from the current session. He apprised that he has called on the Union MoS AYUSH and concerned officials at Delhi along with the State officers a number of times for expediting the commissioning of the Ayurvedic College, and formal orders are likely to be issued within next few days.
Meanwhile, the State Government has already taken up the issue of selection of 50 eligible candidates for undergoing BAMS course with the BOPEE authorities to start the first batch from the current session.
He further informed that the work of Government Unani College is also at the advanced stage and concerned executive agency has been directed to accomplish the project in a time bound manner. The process of recruitment of manpower and creating other requisite facilities for commissioning the Unani College has also been set in motion. After completion of all requisite formalities, the State Government will facilitate the study visit of Central team for making the College functional, he added.
