KISHTWAR, Sept 8: Member Legislative Council (MLC) Firdous Tak visited far off Tunder village of Dachan where a residential structure housing four families was gutted in a devastating fire last week.
Tak distributed relief material including blankets, kitchen sets and solar lamps among the fire victims and provided immediate financial assistance out of his own pocket in order to enable the families to meet the exigency. He also announced Rs 75000 each for reconstruction of their houses on IAY pattern out of his CDF.
Interacting with the fire victims, the legislator assured that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for compensation of the damaged infrastructure besides financial assistance out of relief fund.
Tak urged the Government to provide six month free ration to the victims beside financial assistance to pay the rent till they are able to reconstruct their houses. He assured the affected villagers of all possible support from the Government for their welfare and rehabilitation, said an official spokesman.
The village is situated on a hillock in Dachan tehsil of Kishtwar district. The complex was housing four families which have lost everything in the devastating fire on Eid night. However, no one was injured in the incident.
