JKEDI trains 28 women for self-employment

JAMMU, Sept 8: A fresh batch of 28 aspiring entrepreneurs passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Jammu after completing the three-week Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) on Friday.
The 28 female candidates were trained for self-employment at Centre for Women Entrepre-neurship (CWE), Exhibition Ground, Jammu, a program vertical of JKEDI under Himayat scheme, an initiative of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and implemented by JKEDI.
The training program was modeled for manufacturing and services sector and the aspiring entrepreneurs have chosen various activities like landscaping, dairy farming, manufacturing, retail outlets, paying guest houses and boutiques as their lines of activity. Mohammad Yassir was the Course Coordinator of the programme and Divya Bhushan was trainer of the program.
As part of EDP the participants hailing from different districts of Jammu division were deputed for field visits, business incubations and market survey as well.
Speaking at the valediction, Dr  Majid Manzoor, Chief Program Officer, JKEDI,  said unemployment is a serious threat for the State of Jammu and Kashmir and the Government can only accommodate limited number of people. Entrepreneur-ship is the only solution to this chronic problem, he added and encouraged the aspiring female entrepreneurs for taking timely and life changing decision by choosing entrepreneurship as their career choice. The CPO promised the trained candidates speedy disbursement of funds to enable them start their business ventures.
