JAMMU, Sept 8: A 24-year-old youth today allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Pounichak area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, a youth namely Mukesh Kumar son of Romesh Lal, resident of Kabir Colony, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence following which he was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, in serious condition.
He said before the statement of the youth was taken by the police, he expired during treatment. Since no suicide note was recovered from his possession, police has initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC, he added.
“After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites”, the official further added.
