This refers to the titled “Bringing political parties under RTI’ by Dr Raja Muzaffar (DE 8.9.2017). I am also of this opinion that political parties in J&K should be brought under the ambit of Right to Information Act as they get huge donations and also avail tax exemption benefits as well. The case is pending before State Information Commission from last several years. It is urged upon CIC Khurshid Ganai to dispose off this case at an earliest. Infact political parties should proactively make information about donations public so that people feel their leaders are accountable before them.
