REASI, Sept 10: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Ravinder Kumar today formally declared Panchayat Pouni as the first Open Defecation Free (ODF) Panchayat of Tehsil Pouni in a function organised at Tehsil Headquarter Pouni.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi congratulated Mohd Yousaf Malik, Assistant Commissioner Development Reasi and Rajesh Baru, Tehsildar Pouni and all team members and local Sarpanchs, who worked hard to make Pouni 1st Open Defecation Free Panchayat.
It is pertinent to mention here that block Pouni is the second block which is moving towards ODF after Block Reasi which has already became a distinctive and first ODF Block in Jammu and Kashmir wherein Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a mention in his program ” Mann Ki Baat” and congratulated innovative contribution of Deputy Commissioner Reasi.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that all stake holders have to work with enthusiasm and intensive zeal by involving grass root level workers and Government functionaries to make block Pouni ODF in shortest possible time.
Tehsildar Pouni Rajesh Baru informed that out of total 7283 households, 2476 have already constructed their individual toilets while as 4825 houses are yet to be covered under Swachh Bharat Mission and due to hard work of Team ODF Pouni 837 toilets were completed and 808 toilets are under progress within almost one month.
