RAMBAN, Sept 10: Banihal police arrested a rapist, who was evading his arrest for the past one year.
As per police sources, on September 9 last year, a complaint was lodged by a man with Police Station Banihal stating that her minor daughter has been repeatedly raped by Bilal Ahmed Naik, son of Abdul Rashid of Kheri on the assurance that he will marry her. The girl became pregnant and delivered a dead baby, while the accused went underground.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 125/16 under Section 376 RPC was registered at Banihal police station and hunt was launched to arrest him.
On specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station conducted raid and nabbed the accused at Magarkote.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Deepak Singh Katoch, Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Chowdhary and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
