Delegations target Govt, PSC

Majority of 28 delegations that met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here this evening were critical about working of PDP-BJP coalition Government saying Jammu continued to suffer neglect in infrastructure development, employment opportunities and other major issues.
Sources said some of the delegations pointed out that construction of bridge in Akhnoor was deliberately being delayed with cancellation of tenders notwithstanding the fact that both MLAs from the area—Rajiv Sharma and Dr Krishan Lal were pressing hard for its construction.
Rajiv Sharma and Dr Krishan Lal also called on the Home Minister and apprised him of delebrate delay on part of the Government in construction of the bridge.
“Road network and electricity supply were getting bad to worse. Even in the City, roads were in very bad shape and, despite repeated protests, the Government was doing nothing. Similarly, power supply in both urban and rural areas has been badly hit,’’ the delegations lamented.
They said the Public Service Commission (PSC) was pursuing worst ever discrimination with the youth of Jammu.
“There was hardly 10 per cent representation of Jammu region in the selections being made by the PSC,’’ the delegations said and demanded dismissal of the PSC members and appointment of persons with credibility and integrity as new members for fair selections.
The delegations pointed out that the Government was delaying payment of compensation to PoJK and other refugees.
