Ryan incident: SP South launches drive to ensure safety, security of school children

JAMMU, Sept 12: After a very unfortunate incident which took place on September, 8 this year in Gurgaon, wherein a seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur of Ryan International School was allegedly killed by a bus conductor of the school, Superintendent of Police (SP) South Jammu Sandeep Chaudhary has launched a drive to ensure safety and security of school children.
SP stated that various school authorities have been contacted to cooperate in ensuring safe and secure schooling for children.
He stated this during a function in his office, here today.
SP emphasised that above all, sincere cooperation of school authorities is solicited because there is nothing more precious in this world than the lives of our children. And the cooperation extended by school authorities in this exercise will go a long way in ensuring the safety and security of school children.
SP was of the view that the J&K Police has always taken the safety and security of people as its top priority. Fulfilling our responsibility towards society we are taking a step towards ensuring safe and secure schools for our children, he said, adding that various school administrations have been contacted to provide the list of their staff, bus conductors, bus drivers, janitors, other helping staff and security guards. A thorough verification of background check will be conducted. An awareness seminar will be conducted with school principals very soon. A booklet on safety and security guidelines on the basis of directions of Supreme Court of India and CBSE will be compiled and provided to schools for implementation.
He appealed to school authorities that children suffer no harm in exercising their fundamental to education and ensure that schools provide safe facilities as part of a compulsory education.
