JAMMU, Sept 12: The Batwals of India (a social organization) has demanded change of name of ‘Thandi Khui’ to ‘Kainth Pur’.
The demand was raised during a meeting of the organization held here today under the chairmanship of GR Kaith. General secretary of the organization, RL Kaith, while speaking on the occasion said, said that the Batwals of India had held a meeting with the people residing around ‘Thandi Khui’ few days ago, wherein it was told by an octogenarian that ‘Kainth Pur’ is the original name of ‘Thandi Khui’.
He said that the name ‘Kainth Pur’ is historically connected to the name of Raja Sankri Dev of Kainthgali who valiantly fought with cruel Mughals against the atrocities on innocent Hindu people but in the end attained martyrdom over there.
“As such, the organization urges the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu to take holistic view of the demand and kindly act accordingly in the larger interest of people”, he added.
