JAMMU, Sept 14: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) was held here today under the chairmanship of Shadi Lal Pandita, President, JTC/SKF. The meeting was attended by the office bearers and members of both the parties.
In the meeting the participants expressed their grave concern over the damaged and dilapidated conditions of the residential blocks in Jagti Migrant township. They said that almost all residential quarters have been leaking.
Pandita, while addressing the meeting has condemned the attitude of the State and Central Governments for their slackness in ensuring necessary repairs and renovation of the residential blocks/ quarters and checking the leakages enabling the inmates to heave sigh of relief. He said that time and again the State and Central Government has been informed about the damaged and dilapidated conditions of these residential blocks but it is unfortunate that no heed has been paid by the authorities concerned putting the lives of the inmates of these quarters at risk, as there are apprehensions that if the renovation was not done of most of the residential blocks may collapse due to leakages.
Pandita also demanded either these residential blocks be got repaired and renovated to avoid any loss of life or the migrants from this township be shifted to some other safe and secure place to ensure their safety. He also demanded issuance of RBA certificates in favour of migrants belonging to RBA from the Valley and settlement of other demands including enhancement of relief, implementation of PM package in letter and spirit, removal of encroachments from migrants property and land in Valley, holding of on spot recruitment drive in police in migrant camps and non camp localities, one time compensation to over aged youth and creation of one thousand class fourth posts for those KP youth who could not continue their studies due to lack of resources.
