JAMMU, Sept 17: Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Department Dr Pawan Kotwal reviewed the functioning of health sector and National Health Mission here.
Dr Mohan Singh, Mission Director NHM J&K, Dr Sameer Matto, Director Family Welfare Immunization, Satvir Kour, Director (Planning) SHS, Dr Ajay Gupta, Deputy Director Health Service Jammu, Khem Raj, Financial Advisor, Programme Managers from State Health Society, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers of Jammu Division and other senior officers of Health Department and State Health Society attended the meeting.
Dr Mohan Singh, Mission Director NHM in his key note address informed that the progress of various programme and schemes of NHM is being uploaded on different online portals. A template has been designed by the State Health Society for undertaking regular review of districts and blocks health institutions. He also gave brief insight of various new programmes.
Principal Secretary emphasized that each and every maternal death has to be reported by the field functionaries within 24 hours and it has to be reviewed by the Maternal Death Review Committee and recommendations for corrective actions should be taken at various levels so as to reduce the preventable maternal deaths in the community.
Regarding PMSMA, it was conveyed to the districts that on 9th of every month, pregnant woman must be provided Quality Ante Natal Care and list of high risk mothers detected on this day must be available with Block Medical Officer to ensure their follow up and safe outcome. Dr Kotwal desired that Director Health Services to ensure that short term training course will be designed and planned for the Medical Officers in consonance with the PC-PNDT Act so as to meet up the shortfall of radiologists for implementing PMSMA in letter and spirit. He directed CMOs that in no case the pregnant women should be deprived of IFA and calcium tablets. He also reviewed various indicators of child health.
Dr Sameer Mattoo, Director Family Welfare, J&K informed that Mission Inder Dhanush will be launched in Jammu district from October 7 and also explained about the action plan for immunizing all the children during this campaign.
Dr Rajinder Samyal CMO Samba in a power point presentation gave a detailed functioning of District Health Society Samba and all health institutions in the district, while Dr Narinder Bhatyal, Programme Manager, SHS, gave a brief overview of E-Healthcare services being implemented on pilot basis in few institutions of the country.
