SRINAGAR: A three-day water sports festival ‘Jashan-E-Dal and Shikara Race — 2017’ was kick-started at the world famous Dal Lake in this summer capital today.
Various water sports events, including Shikara Race, will be held during festival, which is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Declaring open the festival, Director General of Police (DGP), S P Vaid said the event is being held under Civic Action Programme (CAP) with the aim to engaging the youth in healthy competitions of sports so that face of every youth shines with smiles.
Dr Vaid said Jammu and Kashmir Police organises various sports activities under CAP for the holistic development of State youth to channelize their energies in positive directions.
He said a number of sports programmes have been charted out, lined up and are going on throughout the State which are providing a platform to the youth to showcase their talent.
Referring to the achievements of the State in the water sports, Dr Vaid hoped that the players and teams of the State will touch new heights in future. (AGENCIES)
