Sir,
In good olden days, the relationship between a teacher and the taught was very pious. A teacher was considered as ‘Guru’ whose main task was nursing a child morally besides providing 3 Rs education i.e reading, writing and lit bit knowledge of mathematics. Now in the so called modern era the concept of ‘Guru’ and “Shishya” has almost vanished. Schools now-a-days have become teaching workshops and mostly students resort to rote memorization for securing good marks in examination. The pious relations between a teacher and a taught seems no where in modern education. Need of hour is to change our vision and outlook and rebuild our lost “impercrable dignity” once enjoyed by the teaching community. With missionary zeal and zest our teachers can rebuild and restore their lost dignity and honour.
Teachers have been held guilty of sexual harassment of their students now-a-days. This on going practice is a slur for members of teaching community. I would like to suggest that in schools posting of teachers be done on the basis of their sex. If it is a girl school then only female staff from top to bottom be provided. Similarly in boys schools, only male sex be posted so that this heinous crime in the schools can be checked to some extent.
Yours etc…
