NEW DELHI, Nov 6: Canara Bank today posted 22.4 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 660.97 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2012.
The state-owned bank had posted net profit of Rs 852.22 crore in the July-September period of the previous fiscal ended March 31.
However, its total Q2 income rose to Rs 9,203.61 crore, from Rs 8,442.73 crore in the same period last fiscal, Canara Bank said in a filing to the BSE.
During the first half of 2012-13, the net profit of the bank was down 8.7 per cent at Rs 1,436.21 crore, from Rs 1,578.07 crore in the April-September period of the previous fiscal, the filing said.
The bank’s total income during the six month period rose to Rs 18,369.08 crore, from Rs 16,150.32 crore in the April- September period of last fiscal.
Gross NPAs rose to 2.58 per cent of loan assets as on September 30, 2012, compared to 1.75 per cent at the end of second quarter of the previous fiscal. (PTI)
