Dr Karan Singh suggests enquiry into BHU unrest

JAMMU, Sept 25: Expressing deep distress over the recent unrest in Banaras Hindu University, Dr Karan Singh, Member of Parliament, has suggested that the Vice-Chancellor should institute an impartial enquiry and take remedial steps without delay.
In a statement, issued here today, he also appealed to the young students of BHU to maintain peace and tranquility in this sacred institution, so that enquiry can be held in a peaceful atmosphere.
“The incident involving our precious girl students was most deplorable and I suggest that the VC should institute an impartial enquiry to identify the causes of this situation so that remedial steps are taken without delay,” said Dr Karan Singh, who has remained Chancellor of this University for 15 years.
