LEH, Sept 25: A delegation of  CII J&K State Council led by its chairman  Rahul Sahai  called on Dr Sonam Dawa,  Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh  and Avny Lavasa, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Leh at their respective offices here today.
Sahai briefed Dr Sonam Dawa and DC Leh   on CII’s initiatives in Leh region how post flash floods of 2010 CII immediately deputed a team on the ground and delivered relief material to remotest affected areas. CII also immediately restored some of the local irrigation systems called Khuls, in village Saboo and also adopted this village and constructed 17 houses. CII was one of the few organizations to keep its promise and returned post winters of 2010 to complete the construction of promised houses.
Sahai also briefed them on how CII has been doing CSR projects in J&K and also provided help in times of natural calamities line Kashmir earthquake of 2005 and recently Kashmir floods of 2014. CII has built and handed over 508 toilets around Wullar basin. CII has also provided livelihood support to over 100 families in district Baramulla last year. CII shall soon be handing over 3 Critical Care Ambulances in Kashmir.
During the discussion, it was suggested that CII should undertake 1-2 projects under its CSR initiative which may be related to building of toilets at couple of places, providing support for traffic management system, maintenance of irrigation system ( Khuls),  maintenance of Solar system constructed by LAREDA in far flung villages of Ladakh . They further suggested that CII should conduct some awareness session on skills, solid waste management, decentralized STP’s and other important issues to benefit the society at large.
Nawang Thilnas, chairman CII Ladakh Zonal Council, Jigmet Angchuk, Tsetan Dorjay, Vivek Bhardwaj and Khurshid Dar were present during the interactions.
