JAMMU, Nov 6: All J&K Technical Department lecturers on consolidated, contractual and academic arrangements indefinite pen down strike entered second day at Government Polytechnic College, Bikram Chowk, here today.
Early in the morning all the contractual, academic arrangements lecturers & demonstrators from various polytechnics boycotted their classes and gathered at Government Boys Polytechnic here and marched towards Government Women Polytechnic College. The lecturers were raising slogans in support of their demands and demanding justice for them.
Later talking to media persons they said it is shameful that their pay has not been upgraded as per the 6th Pay Commission report.
They are demanding revision of basic salary with grade pay as per 6th Pay Commission with retrospective benefits, adjustment of 15 casual lecturers as per norms and statutes, release of salary during the vacation, issuance of order to newly appointee contractual teachers/academic adjustments.
