JAMMU, Sept 25: “It is good to see Katra drawing huge rush in wake of Navratras and especially when Department of Tourism has organised special events including Shobha Yatra, Sampooran Manokamna Yatra as well as Mata Ki Kahani. Devotees are having best of their time and I will surely try to showcase these events back in Lakshdweep so that more and more tourists get attracted towards Jammu and Kashmir State”.
This was stated by Administrator Lakshadweep, Farooq Khan, who was the chief guest at Katra Festival on fourth day of Navratra and witnessed Mata Ki Kahani besides Shobha Yatra and other events specially organised for pilgrims visiting holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. He said, entire Katra is wearing a festive look and a consistency should be maintained to attract more tourists to Jammu which has more to offer in terms of infrastructure and religious places besides parks and gardens.
He appreciated local administion especially Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) besides Department of Tourism in giving pilgrims so much reasons to stay in Katra as well as Jammu.
He said that two way cable car one each for pilgrims and for transporting material will be inaugurated by the end of this year. Since most of the pilgrims avoid visiting Bhairon Ghati due to treacherous track, the commissioning of ropeway project will facilitate their Yatra which otherwise also is considered incomplete without a visit to the Ghati.
Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks in her address said this ropeway will facilitate pilgrims and make them stay in Katra as well.
This will help Katra town get more business as most of the pilgrims would like to delay their return especially in wake of visiting Bhairon Ghati. She added that Government is doing its best to develop Katra town on modern lines besides improving civic amenities so that pilgrims get to stay out in the foothills of Cave Shrine for more days.
BJP Vice President Yudhvir Sethi in his address said that Coalition Government is committed to the welfare of people.
Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, CEO Shrine Board, SDM and Nodal Officer were all present on the occasion.
