Preservation of water bodies

Sir,
The Kashmir valley is known as Paradise on Earth and Crown of India. The Jammu Division is known as the City of Temples and the Ladakh division is famous all over the world for its Gumpas. God has been kind enough to gift the State with water bodies especially in Jammu and Kashmir division and these water bodies are in the shape of lakes, springs and in local language some water bodies are known as Bowlies. Among all these water bodies, the most famous are the lakes and springs in Kashmir. In Jammu division these water bodies are known as Bowlies.  There is natural flow of water in these Bowlies and in the old days, the local people used to drink water of these Bowlies. The people were very conscious about their safety and these Bowlies remained surrounded with walls in order to protect them. However, these natural sources of water were ignored as tap water became available. It is reported that the people will feel acute water scarcity after the passage of some time because of climatic change taking place day by day. There will be a time when the people will have no alternative than to resort to the old method of using water from water bodies.
The beautification of these water bodies will attract a good number of tourists and thus will prove a source of income. It is high time that the people pay more attention towards preserving water bodies such as springs and Bowlies at local level through panchayats etc. This will serve the purpose of providing fresh water to the public.
Yours etc…
