JAMMU, Oct 3: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has threatened to suspend industrial activities if the Government does not issue notifications for the extension of package of incentives under GST regime.
A unanimous decision in this regard was taken during the general house meeting of BBIA, held here today under chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan, president of the Association.
During the course of discussions, members showed their serious concern over delay in issuance of notifications by the State/Central Governments for the extension of package of incentives under GST regime, due to which uncertainty is prevailing in the minds of Industrial unit holders of J&K.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Central Government has so far failed to issue the Notifications as approved by the Union Cabinet on 16/08/2017 with in a time frame of six weeks which expired on 30-09-2017. In spite of repeated assurance given by the State Finance Department for the issue of Notification, the matter has been postponed with the excuse of awaiting of Central Government. Notification which the BBIA termed as delay tactics adopted by State Government resulting in total chaos amongst the Industrial units working in J&K as the funds blocked by way of depositing the GST.
The meet feared that any further delay in the issuance of Notifications by State/Central Government will be a fatal blow on the Industrial Sector of our State which will be resulting in to mass scale retrenchment of Industrial workers and thousands of Accounts may be converted in to NPA.
It was resolved in the meeting that if the Central/State Government Notifications are not issue by the end of this week the Unit holders have no option but to close down their Units and stop the payment of all the Government dues and start the agitation for which the Government shall be held responsible.
BBIA also appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti , Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu and Industries Minister Chander Parkash Ganga to intervene into the matter for issuance of Central/State Notifications for the grant of State fiscal incentives to the units and save the Industrial Sector from closure as well as the retrenchment of lakhs of Industrial workers.
The meeting was attended by Suresh Mahajan (Sr vice president), Varun Singla (vice president), Ajay Langer (general secretary), Vivek Singhal (secretary), Viraaj Malhotra (treasurer) and other members of BBIA.
